Timber & Damp Survey

by Geoff Flavell in Damp Proofing Blogs

Timber & damp survey

Timber & damp survey showing our client that their property doesn’t require a new damp proof course (DPC) as stated by other established companies.
Our surveyor is pointing out the mortar joint on the external wall where the slate DPC is situated in this early 1900s Victorian terraced house.

We had permission for a destructive survey to show that rising damp is not the cause of dampness, and on removing the skirting boards as we thought the wall plaster is in contact with the solid quarry tiled floor bridging the slate DPC wicking moisture up from below the DPC.

Next we cleaned the wall down to expose a good working slate DPC.
Common sense, honesty and of course experience in the timber & damp industry will go a long way, re-plastering will be needed but NO damp proof course.
