Wet Rot Fungal Species

by Geoff Flavell in Damp Proofing Blogs

Wet Rot Fungal Species

There are many fungal species causing wet rot and the same remedial measures are required for all of them. They may cause a darkening of the timber (brown rot) or bleaching (white rot). The images show decayed (brown rot) skirting boards due to the timber in contact with a solid floor with absent damp proof membrane (DPM). If you noticed any cracking or softness to skirting boards, bottom of door frames or even timber flooring this could be signs of timber decay. Contact us or send over some good quality images on our business WhatsApp and we can talk you through possible problems you might have concerning timber decay and if needed arrange a timber and damp survey.
